Truth & Reconciliation
At Catalyst Haven Digital Communications, we are deeply committed to reconciliation and the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Calls to Action, particularly those related business and reconciliation (92).
We recognize that digital innovation has a vital role to play in advancing equity, accessibility, and Indigenous self-determination in these areas.
Business and Reconciliation
We call upon the corporate sector in Canada to adopt the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as a reconciliation framework and to apply its principles, norms, and standards to corporate policy and core operational activities involving Indigenous peoples and their lands and resources.
This would include, but not be limited to, the following:
i. Commit to meaningful consultation, building respectful relationships, and obtaining the free, prior, and informed consent of Indigenous peoples before proceeding with economic development projects.
ii. Ensure that Aboriginal peoples have equitable access to jobs, training, and education opportunities in the corporate sector, and that Aboriginal communities gain long-term sustainable benefits from economic development projects.
iii. Provide education for management and staff on the history of Aboriginal peoples, including the history and legacy of residential schools, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Treaties and Aboriginal rights, Indigenous law, and Aboriginal–Crown relations. This will require skills based training in intercultural competency, conflict resolution, human rights, and anti-racism.

Capacity Building
At Catalyst Haven Digital Communications, we believe in empowering organizations with the skills and tools needed to sustainably implement effective digital communications strategies. Our Capacity Building services focus on equipping your team with the knowledge and confidence to manage digital storytelling, AI integration, social media, content creation, and data-driven decision-making, ensuring long-term success in your communications efforts.
This work is particularly important in fulfilling Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Call to Action 92: Business and Reconciliation. Indigenous Peoples are overrepresented within the substance use and mental health space due to the ongoing impacts of colonization, systemic discrimination, and intergenerational trauma. At Catalyst Haven, we are committed to leveraging digital communications to challenge stigma, promote culturally safer approaches, and support Indigenous-led solutions that prioritize healing, self-determination, and community care.
We integrate the following reconciliation principles into our work:
Meaningful Consultation & Relationship Building – We work to engage with Indigenous partners and communities to ensure that digital strategies are developed through respectful consultation, collaboration, and free, prior, and informed consent.
Equitable Access to Digital Opportunities – We provide training, mentorship, and capacity-building initiatives that support Indigenous-led and Indigenous-serving organizations in strengthening their digital communications strategies and capacity within their own organization. We have had the privilege to learn from the colonial education system and through professional experience in digital communications strategies. We recognize the responsibility that comes with this knowledge and are committed to sharing it in ways that support others in amplifying their voices and advancing their missions in the digital space.
Continuous education
At Catalyst Haven, we recognize that reconciliation is a lifelong journey, and we are committed to being in a constant state of growth, learning, and accountability. We welcome opportunities to be called in at any time and appreciate the chance to deepen our understanding, challenge our perspectives, and strengthen our approach to ethical, inclusive digital communications.
At Catalyst Haven Digital Communications, we are committed to ongoing education and training for our team to ensure our work aligns with Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Call to Action 92.
Growth
As we grow, we are committed to proportional representation of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples within our organization, ensuring that Indigenous voices are centered in decision-making and leadership roles. Through these efforts, we strive to build a team that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve and upholds reconciliation as a fundamental part of our mission.
